FULL-TIME HOUSEPARENT COUPLES

Glenwood School for Boys and Girls is seeking married couples for full-time live in houseparent positions at our main campus located in the Chicago southeast suburb of Glenwood Illinois.

Glenwood School has a 122 year old tradition of residential and educational service to disadvantaged children and youth throughout the Chicago land area. Houseparents at Glenwood School play a central role in the care, nurturance and social skill development of each child.

The primary role of houseparent is to provide parental-type supervision, structure, guidance and teaching in a positive, safe and caring environment for on the average of 11 children ranging in age from 7-17. The ability to establish meaningful relationships with youth, parents and the ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary setting (i.e. school, recreation, counseling, etc.) is a must. Glenwood School houseparents work a full week schedule with weekends off. Houseparents are provided with personal living quarters and amenities available for their use at all times.

RATHJE CAMPUS STAFF POSITIONS - St. Charles, IL

MIDDLE SCHOOL MATH/SCIENCE TEACHER 2010 - 2011 School Year

Job Summary:

The Glenwood School West Campus is seeking a full time faculty member to serve as the Math and Science instructor for the 6th, 7th and 8th grades. The Math/Science Teacher will, among other responsibilities, coordinate the Middle School Math Club and Science Fair activities at the Middle School level, serve as an advisor at the 8th grade level, and chaperone Middle School trips. The Middle School Math/Science Teacher will also design, support and implement innovative uses of technology in the classroom as well as assist with school-wide special projects such as the Lower School Science Fair, Earth Week, and campus wide ecological restoration projects - and other duties/projects as assigned.

The successful candidate must be experienced in working with Middle School aged students and flexible enough to work with the varied personalities and teaching styles that exist throughout the Middle School division. Finally, the Middle School Math/Science Teacher will be expected to help evaluate the scope and sequence of Middle School Math and Science instruction with a focus on transitions between grades and divisions.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Bachelors Degree in Math or Science with State of Illinois Certification
2. Knowledge of typical Middle School Science and Math curricula is essential
3. Significant Middle School classroom experience utilizing Best Practices
4. Excellent communication skills, sound judgment, and emotional maturity
5. An affinity for working with middle school aged children some who exhibit at-risk behaviors
6. A willingness to learn and improve professionally
7. Ability to work with a team
8. Creativity, sense of humor, and ability to communicate with preadolescent at-risk youth
9. Interest in extra-curricular involvement with students

Preferred Qualifications:

10. Master degree in Math, Science Education
11. Highly Qualified Teacher Status
12. Type 75 Administrative Endorsement
13. Working knowledge of the Ten Sigma Curriculum
14. Working knowledge of Motivation Systems Training
15. Working knowledge of Social Skills and Character Education Curricula
16. Experience in Residential Education
