Glenwood’s historic South
Campus in Glenwood, Illinois, serves approximately 180 children
annually from Chicago, surrounding south/southwest suburbs
and Northwest Indiana. The campus is located approximately
35 miles south of downtown Chicago, at the corner of 187th
and Halsted streets in Glenwood, east of Homewood/Flossmoor,
and just south of I-294. The South Campus is comprised of
150 grassy acres for playing, plus 23 buildings including
14 residence halls – four for girls and 10 for boys;
an academic center with three computer labs, music room, and
a library; a woodworking shop, two gymnasiums, chapel, dining
hall/special events center, administration building and maintenance
facilities.
This campus also offers a Day Program for families that are
able to transport their children to and from school, and would
prefer to have their children home with them at night. It
has a very active Kidshop for woodworking projects, and offers
a vocational component as part of the academic program for
selected junior high students. Students who choose to continue
to live on the South Campus after graduation from 8th grade
enroll in either Bloom Township High School or, if they pass
staff review and an entrance exam, Marian Catholic High School,
both in Chicago Heights.
